Background of Upazila Administration

Rampal upazila is situated on the north bank of Kumarkhali river. It was transformed into Manunnita Thana on 24 March 1983 and established as an upazila. Its area is 26.45 sq km. A total of 18 unions are formed. Later a union was merged with Sadar upazila. After that a new upazila called Mongla Upazila was formed with 7 unions. At present there are 10 unions in Rampal upazila. It is said that a man named Ram of the Pala dynasty first settled on the other side of Perikhali in the river Kumar. And later Rampal's name was given to him.
